Maro Charithra (Telugu: మరో చరిత్ర) is a Telugu film starring Kamal Haasan in the lead role of the protagonist and Saritha as female lead role. It was one among the biggest hits at the box office. Released in 1978, it is a conventional love story later remade in Hindi as "Ek Duuje Ke Liye" in 1981.
The story revolves around a simple "Telugu - Tamil" neighboring girl and boy falling in love and later their family interfere and ask them to remain separate for the whole year which makes the story end in tragedy.
The story talks a lot about neighboring Brahmin- Non-Brahmin wordy quarrels, father and son disagreements between Ramana Murthy and Kamal Hassan, prejudged conditions to break-up the love affair. The entire story names only two places, Vizag and Hyderabad.
